Impacted wisdom teeth can grow at an angle or horizontally, pushing against the adjacent molar (tooth number 7) and affecting the entire dental arch. Prolonged pressure can lead to damage to the roots of front tooth, resulting in bone resorption, infections, or the formation of a dental cyst.

Pericoronitis: When wisdom teeth do not fully erupt, a flap of gum tissue may cover part of the tooth, creating a pocket where food particles can accumulate, leading to pericoronitis (inflammation of the gum tissue) and bad breath.

In some cases, wisdom teeth may not erupt at all and remain buried in the jawbone, forming a cyst around the tooth body. This cyst can grow and destroy the surrounding jawbone, which is one of the most severe complications, resulting in significant consequences.

The process of wisdom tooth eruption can be painful and often leads to the accumulation of bacteria, increasing the risk of cavities in the wisdom tooth or adjacent teeth. Therefore, this area is particularly susceptible to infections and other dental issues.
